The second session of Day 3 of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation (IFYM) 2026 was conducted at the Rinchen Auditorium, Fire and Fury Corps, Indian Army, bringing together Army personnel, Yoga experts, festival delegates, and students for an inspiring programme focused on spirituality, resilience, mental well-being, and peak performance.

Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, along with the delegates of the festival, was warmly welcomed by the Indian Army. The auditorium was filled with enthusiastic Jawans who participated wholeheartedly in the session.

Addressing the gathering, Bhikkhu Sanghasena spoke on the importance of spirituality in human life. He emphasized that while material progress and professional success are important, life becomes incomplete and devoid of deeper meaning without spirituality. He remarked that Indiaโ€™s greatest gift to the world is not material products but its rich and timeless spiritual heritage.

Highlighting Indiaโ€™s role as a Vishwaguru, he noted that India has gifted humanity the profound traditions of Yoga, Meditation, and Spirituality, which continue to benefit millions across the globe. He further spoke about the practical relevance of Yoga for defence personnel, particularly those serving in the challenging high-altitude conditions of Ladakh and along the nationโ€™s borders. He explained how specific Yogic practices and Asanas can enhance physical fitness, stamina, mental clarity, resilience, and overall well-being among soldiers.

The programme also featured expert presentations by distinguished resource persons participating in the festival.

Ms. Rishika Sangwan, Yoga Expert from The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, delivered an insightful session on the theme โ€œThe Importance of Recovery for Peak Performance.โ€ She emphasized that adequate rest and recovery should be viewed as strategic tools rather than luxuries. Drawing upon her personal experiences of teaching Yoga to members of the Armed Forces, she highlighted the role of recovery in maintaining optimal physical and mental performance. She also guided the participants through a practical relaxation session which was well received by the audience.

Ms. Shalini Mundade conducted a session on โ€œBreath as a Performance Tool,โ€ explaining the scientific understanding of breathing and its direct impact on stamina, concentration, emotional regulation, and stress management. She introduced participants to various Pranayama techniques aimed at enhancing energy levels, promoting calmness, and accelerating recovery. Her session also included practical demonstrations of Pranayama integrated with Bandhas and Mudras, enabling participants to experience the deeper benefits of breath awareness and Yogic practices.

All the speakers expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the Indian Army for their dedicated service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment in safeguarding the nationโ€™s borders under challenging conditions.

Adding a vibrant cultural and educational dimension to the programme, students of Mahabodhi School presented an impressive Yoga demonstration accompanied by music, showcasing flexibility, discipline, balance, and coordination. The performance captivated the audience and received enthusiastic appreciation from the participants.

The programme concluded with a guided meditation session led by Bhikkhu Sanghasena, providing the participants an opportunity to experience inner calmness, mindfulness, and mental relaxation.

As a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Bhikkhu Sanghasena presented the Commemorative Souvenir of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026 to the representative of the Indian Army in recognition of their continued support and collaboration in promoting Yoga, Meditation, and holistic well-being.

The International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026 continues with a series of Yoga sessions, workshops, seminars, cultural interactions, and special programmes across Ladakh, bringing together participants from India and around the world in a shared celebration of peace, mindfulness, and human well-being.
